The AIMS Reading Test requires you to read different selections of text and answer questions. You are scored on seven different concepts, including vocabulary, comprehension strategies, elements of literature, historical and cultural analysis, and three types of text - expository, functional, and persuasive. Expository text is a reading that is descriptive. Functional text is a reading that provides information for every day use such as a warranty or assembly guide. Persuasive text is a reading that will present an argument in favor of one side or another.
